Last Atlantis Capital Management Appoints Former Head of Midwest Discount Brokers

In addition to his role overseeing the firm’s regulatory operations, Mr. DeWeese is directing development of Last Atlantis’ proprietary fund management software and account management systems.

During his ten-year tenure at Midwest Discount Brokers, Mr. DeWeese held numerous positions including serving as a member of the Board of Directors. As the firm’s president from 1997 to 2002, he was directly responsible for day-to-day financial, sales and regulatory operations.

Prior to then, he served MDBI in multiple positions including National Sales Manager where he was accountable for new business development, new ventures and alliances, and overseeing a sales force of over 120 registered representatives. As the firm’s CFO, he provided risk and financial analysis for the firm’s portfolio, and conducted and oversaw the company’s internal and external audit program.

“Gary’s tremendous experience in building and managing a diverse and wide-ranging financial services company will be of significant benefit as we continuously seek to control costs and provide our clients financial flexibility,” notes Irwin Berger, Last Atlantis’ Managing Director. “His in-depth understanding of operational and regulatory issues combined with his experience in managing a widely dispersed sales operation, will help Last Atlantis develop the tools and systems we need to provide exceptional service and value to our clients.”

Prior to joining Last Atlantis, Mr. DeWeese operated an independent securities industry consultancy providing executives of boutique broker/dealers regulatory and operational guidance.

Mr. DeWeese has twice been appointed by the Missouri Secretary of State to serve on that state’s Securities Commission Advisory Panel.

Did You Know?

A variable annuity has two phases: an accumulation phase and a payout phase.
During the accumulation phase, you make purchase payments, which you can allocate to a number of investment options. For example, you could designate 40% of your purchase payments to a bond fund, 40% to a U.S. stock fund, and 20% to an international stock fund. The money you have allocated to each mutual fund investment option will increase or decrease over time, depending on the fund's performance.
